New Director: Albemarle Regional Library 5

arlCongratulations to Jennifer Patterson, the new director of Albemarle Regional Library. Jennifer was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She graduated from Winston-Salem State in May of 2010 with a BA in History and minors in Middle Grades Education and English.

A little more about herself, in her own words:

“I have always been an avid reader.  My mother taught me how to read at a very young age and ever since then I have had my nose in a book.  I spent the majority of my time in the library while I attended WSSU so naturally my interest in libraries grew.  In the summer of 2010, I applied for a job at C.G. O’Kelly Library on the campus of WSSU. I worked there until I earned my MLIS from UNCG in 2013 and decided to pursue a career in public libraries. I have worked at Union County Public Library, Catawba County Public Library and most recently, I was the branch manager and adult services manager for Wilson County Public Library. All of these experiences have led me to my position as Library Director for Albemarle Regional Library System. I am excited about this step in my career and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.“
