Just like a public company files an annual report to make its finances transparent to its employees, shareholders, regulators, and the public, the North Carolina Office of the State Controller publishes an annual report with all information necessary for anyone to gain an understanding of the State’s financial activities during the previous fiscal year.
The North Carolina Comprehensive Annual Financial Report contains three sections. The first provides an overview of state government and discusses the economic outlook for the state. The second is the Financial Section, which includes all the state’s financial statements. The third section, the Statistical Section, presents detailed information as a context for understanding what the information in the financial statements says about the State’s overall financial health. Statistics are provided for financial trends, revenue capacity, debt capacity, demographic and economic information, and operating information.
The Report, an important part of North Carolina state government transparency, can be read, downloaded, and/or printed at http://digital.ncdcr.gov/u?/p249901coll22,169511.
