Land Records in North Carolina

Today, I want to start a new series called “Land Records” to talk about the different types of land records you might find in North Carolina.  Some of the posts I will highlight books in our collection in Genealogical Services.  I will also talk about how you can access the different records.

Land records are a hot topic in genealogy, and rightfully so!  One of the most important aspects of land records is they place an ancestor in a specific location during a specific time.  They may not give the names of towns, but they do give the county and that is extremely important since original records in North Carolina are filed by county.
