State Doc Pick of the Week: Natural Heritage Program List of the Rare Animal Species of North Carolina

You have heard that Red cockaded woodpecker and Kemp’s ridley sea turtle are endangered species but did not know that the Eastern diamondback rattlesnake is also endangered? This list of the endangered, threatened and special concern species is published every two years.  Animals are listed by mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, freshwater fishes, freshwater and terrestrial mollusks, and crustaceans.
