The 2015 North Carolina Suicide Prevention Plan was put out by the North Carolina Injury & Violence Prevention Branch which suicide preventionis a part of the N.C. Chronic Disease and Injury Section in the N.C. Division of Public Health all under the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

This suicide prevention plan aims to “…provide stakeholders with a greater understanding of how everyone can contribute to the prevention of suicide and suicidal behaviors in our state…”. It provides examples on what you can do and provides many resources one can consult to help increase knowledge of suicide and suicide prevention. In addition, it talks about how you can advocate for suicide prevention, get involved and get training on suicide prevention, and how to get funding for suicide prevention initiatives.

This guide is very thorough and in depth and covers many different areas and aspects of suicide prevention in North Carolina. Suicide is very serious no matter where you are and it is always good to be prepared to help someone in need and let others know how they can also be helpful.
