Picture of the Week: A Summer Picnic

This July 1953 photo of the Anson County Bookmobile is this week’s Picture of the Week.

The bookmobile was eagerly awaited by the rural Rowan county citizens. In summer months, the bookmobile ladies were often feted with picnics and always something cool to drink. Both children and adults met at appointed bookmobile spots which included some private homes, stores and other businesses.
